The best places to live in the U.S.:
*I am going to go to an early showing of Hellboy II:The Golden Army tomorrow
I took my blood sugar this morning and it was 108(if you know anything about diabetes you know that's good).
I watched Control last night. It was SO good. It's the story of Ian Curtis, the lead singer of the band Joy Division(who went on to become New Order)
A school in Massachusetts has a bunch of girls doing a "pregnancy pact", where they all got pregnant.Of course one of the things that was blamed for it was movies like Juno and Knocked Up.Um,I don't think so.
I'll begin with the random stuff:
Street Scene has some good bands this year.over a couple of days. But $75?(and that's *before* the Ticketbastard service fee.)I'm considering going to the Radiohead show later on this summer(the tickets for that are a decent(ish) price, at least.
The bands I want to see at Street Scene:
Beck, X,Vampire Weekend(heard a song of theirs on Sirius that I really liked),Spiritualized and Devotchka(who did the music in Little Miss Sunshine)
Bands I'm kind of interested in seeing:
TV On The Radio(I saw them at a radio station thing a few years back, with a bunch of bands),Spoon,The Hives,Tegan and Sara.
They've moved it again though. This year Street Scene is going to be in the East Village area of downtown, right next to Petco Park.

I didn't know this:Rev. Fred Phelps(of Westboro Baptist Church fame) used to be a civil rights lawyer.Given his history,I find that ironic(yeah,I really do think)

Even though it looks like a completely crap movie, I want to see Wanted,if only for the James McAvoy factor.I like Morgan Freeman(he's a national treasure),but can't stand Angelina Jolie.

The domino and mah jongg games on this website are addictive.

I've got another show I'm addicted to: The Verminators on the Discovery Channel. It's about pest control guys and man, they see some really gross stuff.Like last night, they had a house with pigeons living in the attic. The pest control guy was like "this place stinks!" pretty much right when he walked in the house. When they went up in the attic they found out why.
There were a ton of piegons up there and..how to put this delicately.....they made a mess. And they had been up there making a mess for a while.
The people living in the house were, surprisingly, not sick from living in the house. The pest control guys had to come in and decontaminate the house and make it so that the pigeons couldn't get in the attic again.
Fugly doesn't even begin to describe the redo of the Cinematical website. They should have left it the way it was(white background, black type, pretty standard ,y/k?

Howard Stern played a couple of tracks from Scarlett Johanson's new album the other day(yep, girlfriend has a new
So I wound up babysitting just my 7-year-old and 3-year-old-niece(my 10-year-old-nephew was at a sleepover).They watched videos(we had dinner-pizza-before).

The whole Nick Hogan thing is redoinkulous. The fact that Nick is not the only juvenile in the jail is interesting,no? I can't believe that he's complaining about his jail cell-I've seen a picture of it-it's WAY nicer than most jail cells,I must say. He should be grateful he only got 7 months.

I watched Shot In The Heart the other day. It's based on a book by Mikhail Gilmore, who is the brother of Gary Gilmore, who was executed by a firing squad in Utah in 1977.
It went a long way to explaining why the family was the way they were. There were four boys-Gary,Frank Jr.,Gaylen and Mikhail(who was born Michael but changed it as a teenager).
The boys' mother Bessie was a Mormon, going back generations, and had a lot of Mormon superstitions that she held on to.
Their father Frank was not Mormon(raised a devout Catholic).By all accounts he had a bad temper. The film highlights things that were going on in their family when the boys were growing up.Frank Sr. died when Mikhail was fairly young(he was in his 60's when Mikhail was born).Gaylen died, and Gary died,so a family very much touched by tragedy.
One thing in this movie that would drive certain Mormons I know crazy is Mormons doing well, non-Mormon things(drinking coffee, or tea-there's a scene where Bessie is drinking tea-a no-no for Mormons).Granted, the Mormons that I have known in my life(and I've known a few) are not representative of all Mormons. They're the sort of Mormons that the very rigid Mormons(only 2 people) I know are driven *crazy* by.
So I saw Sex In the City yesterday.I liked it a lot.
I was supposed to meet my brother and his 3 kids for dinner(we went to Soup Plantation). It actually worked out perfect in terms of when the buses were running after I got out of the movie(the buses don't run as much on the weekend).
I enjoyed hanging out with my brother and his 3 kids.I haven't seen them for a while so it was nice. They had just got back from a Boy Scout campout overnight.I had to call the SATC movie Girls In The City when I was around them.Works for me :)
Bo Diddley died:( Hard to believe. He was a class act,for sure.
